Latest study conducted by Intelligent Positioning reveals that it is on Google UK, Wikipedia ranks for 99% searches. Yes, it is true.
Evident love of Google for Wikipedia is from long on seen as stinging blot on SEO trade. And, some fact like this has increased the agony altogether.

Intelligent Position used several casual noun generators and crafted list of 1000 nouns. It included words like “snowflake” and “melody”, “ashtray” and “volcano”. After this, on Google UK, it conducted 1000 original searches and made a chart to know whether Wikipedia displayed in the result’s first page. And, if yes then where.
What was the result? For 99% of these searches, Wikipedia was on 1st page. It was also a top position result for 56% and figured in top 5 results for 96% noun searches.
This should not come as a surprise as Wikipedia inculcates many SEO essentialities like high quality content rich pages, targeted web pages, trusted domain authority, numerous inbound links and more.
Yet another overlooked fact is that the study was related only to one word nouns and Wikipedia, is a “repository of information about nouns”.
As these strong SEO points also favors Wikipedia, searches for terms such as “liquid”, “tortoise” and “asphalt” will make this online encyclopedia rank high in results of Google. Wikipedia pages for asphalt, liquid and tortoise are simply stunning.
Idea for Alternate Technique
Many search queries are longer as compared to 1 word noun. Few months ago, a research revealed that 27% click generating searches were 1 word. It didn’t include 73% searches nor depicted in the research.
